China-Africa Textile & Apparel Cooperation: A New Win-Win Chapter

Recently, a high-profile China-Africa Textile & Apparel Trade Cooperation Matching Event was successfully held in Changsha! This event has built an important platform for China-Africa cooperation in the textile and apparel industry, bringing numerous new opportunities and developments.
Impressive Trade Data, Strong Cooperation Momentum
From January to April 2025, the import and export volume of textiles and apparel between China and Africa reached 7.82 billion US dollars, a year-on-year growth of 8.7%. This figure fully demonstrates the strong growth momentum of China-Africa textile and apparel trade, and also indicates that cooperation between the two sides in this field is becoming increasingly close with huge market potential.
From “Product Export” to “Capacity Co-construction”: Strategic Upgrade Underway
In recent years, Chinese enterprises have increased their efforts in the construction and investment of African economic and trade parks. In the textile and apparel sector, countries such as South Africa and Tanzania have seen significant growth in trade volume with China. China-Africa textile and apparel trade is ushering in a strategic upgrade from “product export” to “capacity co-construction”. China’s textile and apparel industry has advantages in technology, capital, and supply chain management, while Africa boasts advantages in resources, labor costs, and regional market access potential. The strong alliance between the two sides will realize the value enhancement of the entire industrial chain from “cotton planting” to “garment export”.
African Policy Support to Boost Industrial Development
African countries are also taking active actions. They have planned and built multiple textile and apparel industrial parks, and provided preferential policies such as land rent reduction and exemption, and export tax rebates for settled enterprises. They also plan to double the export volume of textiles and apparel by 2026, showing a strong determination to promote the development of the textile and apparel industry. For example, the textile industrial park in Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone has attracted many Chinese enterprises to settle in.
Hunan Plays a Platform Role in Promoting Economic and Trade Cooperation
Hunan plays an important role in China-Africa economic and trade cooperation. It has fully utilized the driving effect of the two national-level platforms: the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and the Pilot Zone for In-depth China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation, building bridges for China-Africa economic and trade cooperation. At present, Hunan has launched more than 40 industrial projects in 16 African countries, and over 120 African products in the “African Brand Warehouse” are selling well in the Chinese market, achieving mutual benefit and win-win results between China and Africa.

The holding of this China-Africa Textile & Apparel Trade Cooperation Matching Event is an important manifestation of the deepening of China-Africa economic and trade cooperation. It is believed that with the joint efforts of both sides, China-Africa textile and apparel industry will usher in a better future, adding new luster to China-Africa economic and trade cooperation and contributing to the development of the global textile industry!
